As a Cape Town photographer specializing in equine photography, I often find myself chasing golden light and capturing the deep bonds between horses and their owners. My latest equine shoot on Noordhoek Beach was no exception—a beautiful session celebrating the journey of a very special pony named Candy.
If you’ve ever been to Noordhoek Beach, you’ll know that it’s a slice of heaven for equine lovers. Endless stretches of sand, the sound of waves rolling in, and a backdrop of towering mountains make it an unbeatable location for an equine photoshoot. However, on this particular evening, the wind had other plans. It wasn’t exactly in our favour, whipping around us and making things a little more challenging than expected. But that didn’t stop us! Instead, we embraced the elements, letting them add movement and energy to the session. After all, photography is about capturing moments as they unfold naturally, and sometimes the wind can work in our favour, adding a dramatic flair to an already emotional shoot.

This shoot was a tribute to Candy and the two owners who have loved her dearly. Her previous owner and her new owner both joined in to celebrate their relationships with this beautiful chestnut pony. It was a heartfelt session that documented their deep connections, capturing not just their smiles but the trust and love they share with Candy.
As an equine photographer in Cape Town, I always strive to tell a story through my images. And this shoot was filled with storytelling moments—Candy standing proudly beside her previous owner, a testament to years of care and companionship, followed by her new owner riding her effortlessly along the sand, the start of a new journey together. Seeing these relationships unfold in front of my lens was truly special.
The Beauty of a Sunset Equine Shoot
Despite the wind, the sunset glow painted the scene in golden hues, enhancing every frame. The soft lighting wrapped around Candy’s gleaming coat, making her look like she stepped right out of a dream. The dynamic motion shots of Candy cantering along the beach with her rider’s hair blowing in the wind made for some of the most striking images of the evening. There’s something so freeing about capturing horses on the beach—barefoot riders, flowing manes, and the energy of the ocean all coming together to create a moment that feels timeless.
If you’re looking to book an equine photoshoot in Cape Town, Noordhoek Beach is a location that never disappoints. Its vast, open landscapes allow horses to move freely, creating naturally stunning compositions. Whether you want a quiet, intimate shoot with your horse or a high-energy gallop along the shore, this location offers the perfect setting.
Capturing the bond between horse and rider is something I’m truly passionate about. Whether you’re celebrating a special milestone with your equine partner or simply want beautiful images to cherish forever, I’d love to help you bring your vision to life.
